Web Design
If you are finding that creating a website isn’t quite as easy as it looked in the commercial, you are not alone.
You want a simple professional looking website that you can update easily, but you don’t want the headache of trying to figure out all the different parts of a website, keep it all running properly and out of the hands of repuration destroying hackers.
The BlackOps difference:
We start with the industry leading content management engine WordPress. You can update your site as easily as writing an email, of course we are always here to help if you need it.
In the background BlackOps will take care of the rest, read on for all the details
Wrodpress is an excellent content engine used by millions of websites. It’s also attacked by millions of hackers everyday. BlackOps will patch your website and all your plugins weekly and uses industry leading security tools and monitoring to keep your site safe. We will also keep regular backups and offline copies oy your site for emergencies and monitor your site to make sure it’s online.
Registrar:
First things first you will need a domain name, and that means working with a domain registrar.
Godaddy is perhaps the best advertised registrar, but there are so many registrars available how do you choose? We recommend you go with one of the bigger names as without access to your registrar you could lose your domain name forever. Beware companies that register names for you, you wouldn’t let your real estate agent be the official owner of your home so why would you let someone else own your online home? With BlackOps you will always own your domain, this leaves you in control in any situation.
DNS:
The Domain Name System (DNS) is the phonebook of the Internet. Humans access information online through domain names. Web browsers interact through Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. DNS translates domain names to IP addresses, so browsers can load Internet resources.
All registrars also provide DNS services but we recommend not using it. When things go wrong on the internet you want options that help you recover. We recommend the use of a 3rd party DNS. BlackOps will setup the DNS for you and monitor it to make sure it’s operating as expected.
Web Hosting / Web Server
You also need a web hosting provider. This company runs a server for you. It’s a cloud server but keep in mind, there is no cloud it’s just somebody else’s computer. This is a clear instance of you get what you pay for, the cheapest hosting is usually the slowest and least reliable. BlackOps will host your site with industry leading providers and manage the relationship and any support issues.
SEO / Search Engine Optimization / Serarch Engines
If you are not already getting emails promising #1 raking in Google consider yourself lucky. Beware any contact that makes these kinds of promises. Search engines want to provide good results when people search for something. Companies want to be at the top of the search list. The reality is that SEO companies and search engines are in an endless game of cat and mouse.
Most companies offering SEO are just a scam. If a company gets caught using tricks to increase the rank of your websirte you could get blacklisted. If you want a good online reputation you need to think about who you want to find you and what they are looking for. Then you need to regularly create useful content that targets this audience. We can help you monitor the traffic to your site so you know how you are doing and make recommendations to build your online reputation but we can’t promise you will ever be first.
Mobile Browsers
In 2018 Google announced that crawling, indexing, and ranking systems have typically used the desktop version of a page’s content, which may cause issues for mobile searchers when that version is vastly different from the mobile version. Mobile-first indexing means that we’ll use the mobile version of the page for indexing and ranking, to better help our – primarily mobile – users find what they’re looking for.
What does this mean to you? It means that the mobile version of your website is at least as important as the desktop version. It’s important to test your site on as many devices and sizes as you can. By default, all sites BlackOps creates are responsive and mobile friendly. BlackOps will montitor the google search console for your site so we are alerted to any issues before they damage your search reputation.
Social Media
It’s very important that you link your website to your social media accounts. You should monitor the reviews and comments made on these sites. You need to claim your google place and take an active role in your online presence. We can help you with claiming these micro-sites, responding to reviews, the process for removing fake reviews and generally keeping these properties up to date.
Reliability and Security
A superior architecture reduces the impact of inevitable failures and provides options for the fastest recovery. This combined with regular patching, monitoring and security best practices will keep your site serving your customers and out of the hands of hackers.
